Gossip Girl Can Get YOU Pregnant?
A new study finds that girls who watch racy shows, like Gossip Girl, have a much higher chance of getting pregnant than those who settle for less sexually charged TV.

Shows that highlight only the positive aspects of sexual behavior and not the risks can lead teens to have unprotected sex 'before they're ready to make responsible and informed decisions,' Chandra said.The study, released Monday in the November issue of Pediatrics,
involved 2,003 boys and girls nationwide between the ages 12 and 17 who
were questioned in 2001 about their viewing habits.
Participants were asked how often they watched any of more than 20 TV
shows popular among teens or which were found to have lots of sexual
content, including 'Sex and the City,' 'That '70s Show' and 'Friends.'
Pregnancies were twice as common among those who said they watched such
shows regularly compared with teens who said they hardly ever watched
them.
Bill Albert, chief officer at the National Campaign
to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, said the study 'catches up with common
sense. Media helps shape the social script for teenagers. Most parents know
that. This is just good research to confirm that.'

e.g. a few days ago on yahoo! answers, a girl asked why jenny and nate (gossip girl) are rarely seen together when photographed by the paparazzi- she thought that the characters were real. another example is that a guy asked whether there is some kind of fued going on between miley cyrus and hannah montana because they are never together in public!
these are real examples!

its not even just about having safe sex. its about being smart, not just doing whatever with your body. i can't tell you how many girls i know who thought they were in the clear cause they used protection and ended up having various types of std's. yea, i encourage abstinence but above that i encourage being smart and at least waiting till you know its someone you truly care for.
