You know, there's a difference between being a fan and being delusional. With the exception of Mandy, every one of Nick/Joe's ex-girlfriends hates them. AJ, Miley (she may say nice things, but it is so obvious that she deservedly hates them), Taylor, etc. I used to like them, but then I realized that they (I'm talking about Nick and Joe, not Kevin, Yvonne!) were only using girls to further their own interests.

AJ got them into the Disney crowd, where they met Miley. They no longer needed AJ and dumped her.

Miley got them into teen magazines with the dating rumors and invited them on tour with her. This undeniably increased their fan base by a good 25% or so. They no longer needed Miley and dumped her.

When the pictures (which were sent to Nick) came out, they needed someone to help their "good Christian boy" image. Selena and Demi fell into their laps, along with Taylor. But Taylor rebelled; she didn't want to go along with the ruse. She wasn't a doormat. They dumped her.

They need someone to tell their audience that they're mature and grown up. 22-year-old Camilla Belle walks in the door.

I honestly think Nick(or their dad made him) broke up with Miley because she kissed his cheek in Tennessee during a concert. Obviously that's the death knell, showing a JB affection in a public place. The boy comes off as very passive aggressive, and if I had to guess(not saying I'm right), she noticed and asked him if he wanted to break up, as opposed to him just coming right out and saying he wanted to break up with her.
