Chace Crawford ON FOOTLOOSE Role
Chace Crawford chatted with EW about shooting Paramount's dance classic Footloose remake next March. On Zac Efron dropping out: 'I know Zac and we're actually friends. He's gotta make the best choice for his career at this point and I have to make the best for mine and luckily it worked out for both of us.'
On brutal singing and dancing audition for director Kenny Ortega: 'It was, like, five hours of the most rigorous tests ever. I walked out very confident.' According to the film's producer: 'At the end of it, we all sort of looked at each other and said, 'He's the guy!''
Julianne Hough will screen-test this week for the role next week: Producer: 'It's
a much more singing-intensive movie for the female lead. The classic hit songs from the movie will be sung. There will be new songs that will be written by new artists, those will be soundtrack songs. It's not really a burst-into-song musical.
Any songs that are sung are coming out of an organic place.' The more elaborate choreography may not appear in the new film. Chace: 'I don't know if the gymnastics [high bar] scene is going to make it, I've got some movement in me, but I'm not a dancer. I need to start stretching now.'
