Rolling Stone thinks that 'Paranoid' is about Taylor Swift: Jonas Brothers
seem to have struck back, against Taylor Swift's 'Forever & Always' in the first single Paranoid. While it's a far, far, far cry from the Black Sabbath song of the same name, it does edge into slightly harder territory than than the sugary power pop of last year's A Little Bit Longer.

That line sounds way moe Miley than Taylor because we all know why Joe doesn't want Taylor---because of his hard-on for Camilla Belle. I think the song is about Nick meaning he's trying to stay positive while his ex is busy talking shit about him. He wants to say whats on his mind and what he actually thinks about the way she's portraying him in the media but he's "avoiding the lines" cuz he has an image to protect.
Its natural for Nick to have negative feelings about what happened last year, esp when he most likely wrote this song last year. It kinda depends on when the song was written. If it's fairly new, then I could see how it's Joe talking about Taylor. Based on the stress he went through when she was bad-mouthing him to the media. But I don't see the "that's why my ex is still my ex" line fitting in with their relationship. On the other hand, if it was written awhile ago, I can definitely see it tying in with Nick's feelings after the Seventeen article first came out. Everyone was pressuring him saying he came off as the bad guy in that article, whether Miley intended it that way or not. And that could explain the "ex" line.
