Miley Cyrus Attacked Over Gay Marriage
Conservative groups have attacked Miley Cyrus for statements in favor of gay marriage. One Million Moms released this statement today, as reproduced by the American Family Association: OneMillionMoms.com April 30, 2009 Miley Cyrus said what? Miley recently made statements supporting gay marriage.
Her comments were in response to a question posed to Miss California Carrie Prejean in the Miss USA Pageant. Homosexual celeblogger Perez Hilton was the pageant judge who asked Prejean her opinion of same-sex marriage, to which she responded that marriage should be between a man & a woman.
Outraged by her response, Hilton began blasting the beauty queen & asked
for celebrities to share their thoughts on gay marriage. Miley responded to Hilton through her Twitter.com account with the following comments:
• 'Everyone deserves to love and be loved and most importantly smile.' • 'Jesus loves you and your partner and wants you to know how much he cares! That's like a daddy not loving his lil boy cuz he's gay and that is wrong & very sad!'
• 'Like I said everyone deserves to be happy.' • 'God's greatest commandment is to love. And judging is not loving.' • 'I am a Christian and I love you - gay or not - because you are no different than anyone else! We are all God's children.'
Such statements will send the wrong message to our children who are influenced by this teenage megastar. Parents need to realize that Cyrus
is not the positive role model she was once thought to be.

I am a Hindu, we are even more conservative than Christians, there isn't even anything written against gays in our version of the bible, probably because it is a topic that was unknown. Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world, so I guess there is no such thing as homosexuals, it doesn't exist in our bible. Our sins are considered basic, and one of them is illicit sex (lol, i think they mean no freaky anal or oral shit, even between a man and a woman) but we don't even elaborate on our sins, we're mostly about treating others as we would like to be treated, being generous, and of course, the correct way to devote your time to god. And again, our prayers do include the words "Lord, if I have wronged in any way, intentional or not, forgive me" basically, if you dedicate your time and life to god, you will never be turned away from god.

I am not religious at all, but I am raised by religious parents, and I understand why they feel the need to worship. Not only does praying relieve stress, when you're talking to god and telling him your problems you feel at peace, it also gives you discipline, it teaches kids and adults how to be a better person, and being a better person makes them happy. I have not found my peace with God yet, but I try and I hope one day I will.

I thought God made everyone different for a reason! I think its HORRIBLE that people cant look past their differences! EVERYONE DESERVES LOVE! When Prop 8 passed in California, it didnt just tell certain people they could marry someone who they love, it told a group of americans they were 2nd class citizens!

Couldn't agree more! These parents overreacted about stupid stuff. Nothing that Miley said was wrong. She said everyone deserves love, no matter who they choose to love and that is totally right. Wow....guess all these moms want their children to believe in judging people based on who they choose to partner with. Sounds pretty close-minded to me.
