What pisses me off is that there us a "black girls rock" event.I understand that Good Hair is concerning the texture and natural shape of black hair, but how does that make everyone else feel?While they are getting praised for having unique and beautiful hair, we are feeling bad because there arent movies about our hair or events that say "white girls rock" "asian/hispanic/indian/armainian girl rocks".

Does anyone else notice that Disney celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, but no other National Hertitage month?

Black people are a minoriy for one. Even so many years after slavery black ppl are still being discriminated against. Sure we are making progress but racism against blacks especially is still here. I really dont expect those of you who said this was rasist to understand it because you probably haven't experienced racism but this little event is good so that young black people know that that being black is just as beautiful as being white despite what they have experienced. Like black history month.. this award is to celebrate a race (and gender) that has been constantly oppressed, discriminated against, and told they're not good enough.
Its mostly white people recognised at award shows.. 99% of the models used in loreal, nivea etc. commercials are white and the products are aimed at white people.. I can count the black disney actors with one hand. Even on ocean up Raven is like the only black person who gets a mention (And we all know how often that comes around!)... and I can go on. So tell me what should annoy who?
There are plenty of awards, tv networks, sites, commercials and films that have only or mostly white people. But the only difference between that and the Black Girls Rock awards is that this has the word 'Black' in it.
And whoever said Blacks and Hispanics are getting all the attention needs to turn on their tv or simply scroll down a page on oceanup and SEE who gets more attention.
